1847 - Alexander Graham Bell was born in Edinburgh, Scotland.

1861 - He studied in Edinburgh's Royal High School and was graduated from there at the age of fourteen.

1862 - Since 15 year’s old, he undergoes training from his grandfather who is a well-known speech tutor in London. After being well trained, he had his first job. His first job was teaching music and speech to young children.

1868 to 1870 - He learned a lot ever since he became his father’s assistant. He became interested in the study of sound and the mechanics of speech and this triggered him the idea of telegraphing speech.

1870 - Bell went to Boston, Massachusetts and joined the staff of the Boston School for the Deaf.

1871 - He set up his own school in Boston to train teachers to teach the deaf.

1872 - He became a professor of vocal physiology at Boston University and he also tutored private students.

1873 - Bell lacked technical expertise in electrical engineering. Thomas A. Watson was highly skilled in the area of electrical engineering. Therefore, Watson provided Bell with all the skills that he need.

1874 - Both of them worked together and Bell patented a telegraph. However, Elisha Gray patented a similar one two days earlier. Through this, Bell wanted his telephone to be patented before Gray. They worked doubly hard.

1875 - Hubbard, one of the financial backers of Bell, helped Bell to file a patent for his telephone. Fortunately, Bell’s patent was filed a few hours ago before Gray.

1876 - 4th Feb, Bell’s patent of the telephone was successfully granted

On 7th March, the first phone call was made through Bell’s telephone over a distance of 229km, showing that his invention was successful.

On 10th March, Bell’s new invention was exhibited at the Philadelphia Centennial Exposition.

On June, Bell, Watson, Hubbard and Sanders formed the Bell telephone company. Bell married Mabel Hubbard and they journeyed to England to promote about the telephone. 1880 - He was awarded the Volta Prize by the French government for his great invention.

1922 - He died peacefully at his summer home on Cape Breton Island, Nova.
